Ebert Named Shropshire Ambassador

Monica Ebert is currently a freshman in college at Kansas State University. She grew up near Saint George, Kansas and attended Rock Creek High School. She is the daughter of Jeff and Kerri Ebert and currently co-owns Ebert Sheep Farm. She has been showing Shropshire for about ten years now and has enjoyed every minute of her show career. While at Kansas State she hopes to become actively involved in the sheep unit to continue her involvement
with the sheep industry. She also hopes to become involved with ASI as she gets older. Her goal is to stay active with sheep while she is away at college and help others enjoy the sheep project just as much as she has. She hopes that this will be a fun year and is excited to get to know more Shropshire breeders and youth.
Junior Grand National Rodeo and Livestock Exposition
17 year old Sydney Johnson and her Junior Ram, "Rafiki Fantasic," was named Champion Ram, all other breeds, recently at the Junior Grand National Rodeo and Livestock Exposition, at the Cow Palace in San Francisco.
"Pretty high accolades for a lamb just 2-1/2 months old," Sydney commented. "'Fantastic represents the 4th generation I've bred, it's wonderful to see the dreams I had become a reality." She held her own against National Champion Cheviots with her flock of Shropshires.

Kaitlyn Fuss - 2008 Futurity winner |
by Mark McCabe
Thanks to Shropshire Breeders the futurity for 2008 once again has the most ewe lambs nominated. The ninety-two head nominated made a purse of $1840. The twenty-four ewe lambs shown for points is the most ever. Juniors and parents need to remember that only five point totals counted and some cards were just too late getting to me.. The NAILE Junior Show at Louisville on November 16th was a double point show and the placing broke ties for our Futurity pay-out. Congratulations and thanks to all the young people who showed the ewe lambs and to all the breeders who nominated the lambs.

2007 Shropshire Ewe Lamb Futurity
2007 was the sixth year for the National Ewe Lamb Futurity. Each year Shropshire Breeders have nominated more ewe lambs. It costs the breeder $20 to nominate each ewe lamb. This year we had a total of 85 ewe lambs nominated, for a total purse of $1700. The winning young person, Tyler Majchrzak received 20%, which amounted to $340. Second place paid 15% or $255, for Kaitlyn Fuss. Only five shows counted toward the point total. More than five shows were turned in, but only the five highest point totals were figured. This year NAILE was the National Junior Shropshire Show, therefore points counted double. The All American Junior Show also counted double. There were four different point leaders during the show season. Hallie Walker started out in the lead, and lead for the first two months. Kaitlyn Whiting then tied for the lead, but was passed by Kaitlyn Fuss in October. Tyler Majchrzak came from second to win at the end in Louisville. Thirteen places were paid out this year.
